Rahul Gandhi Announces Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar to Save the Constitution

(Fast Mail News):--Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will launch the "Voter Rights Yatra" from Sasaram, Bihar, on Sunday to protest against the "vote theft" SIR process, covering 1,300 kilometers across 20 districts in 16 days.

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, along with several other leaders from the INDIA alliance, will join the Yatra.

Before the yatra's launch, Rahul Gandhi released its full schedule today.

He posted on X, "We are bringing the Voter Rights Yatra to the people. This is a fight to protect the most fundamental democratic right - 'one person, one vote.' Join us in Bihar to save the Constitution."

The Voter Rights Yatra will begin on August 17 from Sasaram in Rohtas district and conclude on September 1 with a 'Voter Rights Rally' at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, attended by national leaders of the INDIA alliance.

The yatra will pass through Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Chhapra, and Ara.

Earlier, Congress media chief Pawan Khera said the Election Commission cannot be allowed to become a "compartment" of the BJP's "double engine."

Khera stated, "Breathing freely in independent India is possible because we have the power to vote. Rahul Gandhi has started a struggle to ensure every citizen can breathe freely."

He added, "With our INDIA alliance partners and social activists, we appealed, and even the Supreme Court had to intervene. This conspiracy was not just about stealing votes; it was about stealing your and our identity."

Khera claimed that the voting rights of Dalits, marginalized, oppressed, and minorities are being snatched today, and their participation will be taken away tomorrow.

He emphasised, "We will not accept the Election Commission becoming a compartment of this 'double engine.' We are fighting for this and will continue to do so."

The Congress leader urged, "We request the people of Bihar to join this yatra for your rights and entitlements, so that Bihar can give direction to democracy."

He added, "The Voter Rights Yatra will be a historic journey. It will prove to be a milestone in the fight for our collective existence."
