Konark Sun Temple Wheel Replica Takes Centre Stage At G20: Know It's Importance

 NEW DELHI:India is famous worldwide for its culture, historical sites and grand temples. There is a temple in Odisha, which is dedicated to Sun God. This wheel is a replica of the Konark Chakra of the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. Famous as Konark Sun Temple, this temple is also known as Padma Kshetra. This temple is dedicated to Sun God

Konark is part of the Golden Triangle of Odisha, which also includes Puri and Bhubaneswar. The grandeur of this temple is worth seeing. This temple resembles the chariot of Sun God with 12 pairs of wheels and seven horses pulling it. Konark Wheel is the main attraction here. It works like a sun dial and is believed to show accurate time. It is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built by King Narasimhadev in 1250 AD. The twelve wheels represent the twelve months of the year and the eight dials within the wheel represent the eight hours of the day. This temple decorated with beautiful artefacts is a wonderful example of architecture and carving.

Specialty of the temple

The temple courtyard is divided into dance pavilion and Jagamohana. It is prohibited to enter the main part of the temple due to security reasons. Apart from this, you can see many other things here which makes this temple attractive. There are twelve pairs of wheels in the adjacent parts of the temple, on which different types of figures are made. The shape made on each wheel has its own significance.

Apart from this, there are also 5 galleries where you can see historical artefacts. Chandrabhaga Beach and Ashtaranga Beach are also nearby from here, where you can make your trip even more memorable by enjoying the beautiful sunrise and sunset.

How to reach this temple

Konark Sun Temple is located in Puri district of Odisha. It is about 60 kilometers from Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. Being a very famous tourist destination, transport facilities are easily available here. To reach Puri, you can book a train or flight and then you can easily reach here by taking a taxi or bus from Puri.

Best time to come here

The best time to visit here is from October to February. Due to its proximity to the sea, the weather here remains quite pleasant at this time. The time to visit here is from 6 am to 10 pm.
