Odisha Bandh Hits Normal Life in Dhenkanal and Angul

  •  MCL Coal Mines badly affected during today’s bandh

ANGUL: A complete and peaceful bandh was observed in industrial districts of Angul and Dhenkanal  with no untoward incidents reported anywhere in the districts. While coal mines at Talcher were affected all other industries in these two districts functioned normally though the attendance was affected in both Steel and Power and Aluminium sector.

The congress-sponsored bandh has hit eight coal mines in Talcher where production and coal despatch was paralysed from early morning to midday.

Coal transport by rail and road also came to stand still.In NTPC Kaniha,Nalco .JSP,JITPL,GMR, TATA Meramandali and Rungta Plants the operation was normal in the first shift.In second shift the attendance was thin as per the reports available.

Life in these two districts was paralysed due to bandh call given by congress and seven opposition parties.All the national Highways like NH-55 and NH-149 were shut due to protest by congress workers in Dhenkanal and Angul district. Government offices,banks,schools and colleges were closed.So also the markets were shut down.

 

 Vehicular traffics in these two districts came to stand still by the strike.

Around 10 platoons of police were deployed in these two districts to maintain law and order.No untoward incidents was reported during the band time,said North central IG Satyabrata Bhoi.

Speaking to reporters PCC Chargesheet Drafting Committee Member and Research ,DATA & Information Incharge Jagadananda Pradhan who led bandh at Kaniha NTPC area has expressed thanks people for successful bandh in these two districts.He  thanked the PCC President Shri Bhakta Charan Das for his efforts to take the issue of women atrocities in Odisha and demanding justice for the victim of Baleswar FM College student death case.
 
Congress leader Kshirod Pattnaik who took part during the bandh at Banarpal and Angul said the bandh in Angul district is complete and peaceful.He thanked the people for supporting the bandh.
