Jain University Emerged as the Champion of All India University- Inter Zonal Basketball (Men) Championship
JAIPUR:Jain University, Bangalore Emerged as the new National Champion of All Indian Inter University Basketball Championship. In the finals Jain University beat Rajasthan University Jaipur with a margin of 22 points. But the captain of Rajasthan University Mahaveer stole all show by his energetic performance. After a nail-biting semi-final which saw Jain University, Bangalore and University of Rajasthan, Jaipur as winners by 14 and 6 points respectively, the fight for the trophy began. The Deadline match for the 3rd position was between Panjab University, Chandigarh and University of Madras, Tamil Nadu in which Panjab University won by just 4 points. Both the teams gave a fierce competition to each other, making the spectators sit at the edge of their seats.

As the match proceeded towards the final leg of the championship, the crowd witnessed an aggressive contest between Jain University, Bangalore and Rajasthan University, Jaipur. This match marked the end of a thrilling tournament which had Jain University, Bangalore winning by 22 points.
The courts of Manipal University Jaipur saw a full-house, which included the esteemed presence of Dr. Daulat Singh Chauhan, Pro-Chancellor, ITM Gwalior as the chief guest. The guests of honour were Mr. Ram Kumar Gahlawat, International Coach, Basketball and Mr. Devesh Nair, Sports Inspector, North-Western Railways, Jaipur. The AIU Observer, Dr. Suman Sharma and Dr. Reena Punia, Director Sports, MUJ were also present at the finals. There were total 16 teams and 4 each from North, East, West and South zone participated in this tournament. The Directorate of Sports, Manipal University Jaipur organised the tournament in association with the Association of Indian Universities.
