Informing Pakistan Before 'Operation Sindoor' is a Crime: Rahul Gandhi on Jaishankar's Statement

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, sharing a video of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday, claimed that the government informed Pakistan about 'Operation Sindoor' at the time of its commencement, which is a crime.

Posting the video of Jaishankar's statement on 'X,' he claimed that the government admitted to notifying Pakistan at the start of the airstrike. Rahul questioned, "Who authorized this? As a result, how many aircraft did our Air Force lose?"

The Congress party also targeted the government over Jaishankar's statement. The party on X said, "The Modi government informed Pakistan before attacking terrorist hideouts. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar himself admitted this. This confession by the government is living proof of negligence towards the safety of our soldiers—a grave crime. The questions are: Why did the government share such sensitive and confidential information with Pakistan? Who permitted sharing this attack information with Pakistan? How many of our aircraft were lost due to this information?"

Following Rahul Gandhi raising the issue of Jaishankar's statement, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement clarifying that External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had said that we warned Pakistan at the initial stage, which refers to the early phase after Operation Sindoor had begun.

“It is being misrepresented as if it happened before the operation started. The facts are being completely distorted. Earlier, when the controversy arose, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) had also defended Jaishankar, the ministry clarified.

In the video, Jaishankar can be heard saying, "At the start of the operation, we sent a message to Pakistan stating that we are attacking the infrastructure of terrorism and not the military. Therefore, the (Pakistani) military had the option to do nothing and not interfere in this process. They decided not to take good advice."
