Gujarat Congress Accuses BJP of ‘Vote Theft,’ Claims 12.3% Fake Voters Found in Union Minister’s Constituency
Chavda claimed that a preliminary investigation of voter data in one assembly constituency revealed 12.3% fake voters. Based on this, he estimated that over 62 lakh voters across the state could be fake.
Accusing the BJP of ‘vote theft’ through suspicious, fake, and ‘duplicate’ voters, Chavda said that voter lists of all 182 seats would be scrutinized.
Addressing journalists, Gujarat Congress President Amit Chavda said the party began examining the voter list of the Choryasi assembly seat, which falls under the Navsari Lok Sabha constituency represented by Gujarat BJP President and Union Minister C.R.
Chavda stated, “Voter lists are the foundation of the democratic process, and if there are discrepancies in them, it means democracy is in danger. We have decided to scrutinize voter lists across the state, starting with the Choryasi assembly constituency. In Gujarat, a single person votes multiple times, which affects the entire election outcome.”
Chavda added, “The Congress has decided to expose those conspiring to steal people’s votes, and we will reach every household in the state by the next assembly election in 2027.” He noted that Choryasi was chosen because it falls under C.R. Patil’s Lok Sabha constituency, where he has consistently won by record margins.
According to Congress leader Chavda, out of approximately six lakh voters in Choryasi, the party examined 40%, or about 2.40 lakh voters, and found that over 30% were either ‘duplicate,’ fake, or non-existent. Their names, ages, surnames, photos, and voter ID cards (EPIC) raised suspicions.
He said, “This is from an assembly constituency under the Lok Sabha seat of the BJP state president and Union Minister, who has been winning elections by record margins. We have exposed the theft committed by a prominent BJP leader. With 100% proof, it can be said that lakhs of votes have been stolen there. This suggests the system is prevalent across Gujarat.”
The Congress leader said party representatives would meet the Ahmedabad Collector on Sunday to launch a fight for voters’ rights, which will continue until the 2027 assembly elections. Chavda remarked, “C.R. Patil is a responsible leader who believes in the democratic process. If such a massive scam has occurred in the voter list of his Lok Sabha constituency, why didn’t he draw attention to it?”
He emphasized that Gujarat Congress is committed to saving democracy and protecting people’s constitutional rights. “The votes and constitutional rights of Gujarat’s citizens must be safeguarded. We will visit every household, meet every voter, and by 2027, expose all fraud and vote thieves in Gujarat’s voter lists and remove them from power.”
Chavda added, “The data we used is available online on the Election Commission’s website. The evidence we are providing is accessible there, and if it’s incorrect, it’s their responsibility to fix it.” He stated that it is the Election Commission of India’s responsibility to address questions raised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding vote theft.
Chavda said the Election Commission is an autonomous body and should remain impartial. “But when accusations are made against it, it lacks the courage to admit its mistakes and, under pressure from the BJP government, demands an affidavit from Rahul Gandhi.”
He pointed out that the BJP has spoken 100 times more and created more uproar on this issue than the Election Commission. “If the Election Commission has to respond, why are BJP leaders scared?”
