Delhi: ED Raids AAP Leader Saurabh Bhardwaj’s Residence in Connection with Hospital Construction Scam

NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj in Chirag Delhi, Delhi.

The raid is linked to an alleged hospital construction scam in Delhi.

The ED carried out raids at 13 locations in Delhi-NCR, including the residence of AAP leader and former minister Saurabh Bhardwaj in Chirag Delhi.

This ED action is related to the alleged hospital construction scam, involving suspected irregularities, delays, and potential corruption in infrastructure projects.

The investigation pertains to a suspicious cost escalation of ?5,590 crore in hospital projects, incomplete work, and alleged misuse of funds.

The case involves the construction of 11 new hospitals and the expansion of 13 existing hospitals, along with the ICU hospital scheme (?1,125 crore, 6,800 beds), which is only half complete.

The case is based on a complaint filed by the Leader of Opposition, Vijender Gupta, in August 2024, alleging corruption in the construction of hospitals by the Delhi government.

AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has served in key portfolios such as Health, Urban Development, Water, and Delhi Jal Board and has been a vocal spokesperson for the party.

Reacting to the raid at Saurabh Bhardwaj’s residence, AAP leader Atishi posted on X, “Why was a raid conducted at Saurabh ji’s house today? Because the entire country is questioning Modi ji’s degree. Is Modi ji’s degree fake? This raid was conducted to divert attention from this discussion.”

Atishi further wrote, “The period this case refers to is when Saurabh ji wasn’t even a minister. This clearly shows the case is baseless. Satyendra ji was also kept in jail for three years, and ultimately, CBI/ED had to file a closure report. This clearly indicates that all cases against AAP leaders are false and part of a political conspiracy.”
