Navy Employee Vishal Leaks Operation Sindoor Details to Pakistan, Arrested from Jaipur

An Indian Navy employee has been arrested from Jaipur on charges of spying for Pakistan. The accused, Vishal Yadav, who  hails from Rewari, Haryana was posted at the Navy Headquarters in Delhi.

He is alleged to have leaked critical defence-related information, including details of Operation Sindoor, to a Pakistani handler for Rs 50,000. Multiple agencies are currently interrogating Yadav following his arrest.

According to reports, Vishal Yadav was employed as an Upper Division Clerk in the Dockyard Directorate at Navy Bhawan in Delhi. Inspector General of Police Vishnu Kant Gupta revealed that Yadav leaked the sensitive information to a female Pakistani handler who had posed as an Indian. Yadav came into contact with her through Facebook.

IG Gupta stated, “Vishal Yadav has confessed to providing the information to the Pakistani female handler, for which he received approximately Rs 2 lakh, including Rs 50,000 specifically for details about Operation Sindoor. Some of these payments were made through crypto currency.”

According to sources, citing sources, the incident began on Facebook, where the Pakistani handler, using a fake ID under the name ‘Priya Sharma,’ sent Yadav a friend request. Soon, their communication progressed to WhatsApp and later Telegram.

Police revealed that Yadav initially received small payments ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 for sharing less critical information. However, the Pakistani handler encouraged him to provide more substantial details. Lured by the promise of larger sums, Yadav began sharing sensitive defence-related information.

IG Gupta further explained, “He was tempted with money and leaked critical information from the Navy Headquarters.” He added, “After monitoring his social media activity and confirming his connections with the Pakistani handler, he was taken into custody for questioning.”

Vishal Yadav, a resident of Punsika village in Rewari, is reportedly addicted to online gaming. Investigating officers believe he fell into the trap of spies during his online gaming activities. Forensic analysis of his phone has uncovered significant evidence, including financial transactions, encrypted chats, and defence-related material shared with the Pakistani handler. Agencies are investigating all aspects of the case.

Notably, in response to the Pulwama attack, India conducted Operation Sindoor, carrying out airstrikes on the night of May 6-7, targeting multiple terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

India claimed to have destroyed nine terrorist hideouts in the operation. Following Operation Sindoor, several individuals across Indian cities have been arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan.

Among them, Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra gained significant attention. Additionally, Sahdevsingh Deepuba Gohil from Kutch, Gujarat, and Jasbir Singh, a YouTuber from Mohali, Punjab, were also arrested on espionage charges.
