Flood Havoc in Punjab : All 23 Districts, 1,400 Villages Submerged, 30 Deaths So Far

(Fast Mail):-- Punjab is grappling with one of the worst floods in decades. Heavy rainfall and the swelling of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers have wreaked havoc across several districts.

 According to government data, 30 people have lost their lives, and over 3.55 lakh people have been affected.

In Firozpur district, the Sutlej river's water level has reached dangerous levels, submerging 112 villages. Firozpur DC Deepshikha Sharma inspected the Dhusi Dam along with army officials and locals.In Gaggu Mahal village of Ajnala tehsil, Amritsar, the situation is dire. Roads are completely submerged, forcing people to wade through waist-deep water.

Water has entered many homes, and villagers are pleading for administrative assistance.In the flood-affected Jastarwal village (Amritsar), the Indian Army has set up medical camps, providing medicines, check-ups, and primary treatment to those affected.

The Army and NDRF are conducting continuous rescue operations, evacuating people to safer locations.According to the Punjab government, all 23 districts have been impacted by the floods.

The number of affected villages has risen to 1,400, with Gurdaspur being the worst hit, where 324 villages and over 1 lakh acres of crops have been destroyed. Across the state, 3.71 lakh acres of crops have been ruined.

 

 Over 3.55 lakh people have been affected, including 1.45 lakh in Gurdaspur and 1.17 lakh in Amritsar. Agencies like the Army, NDRF, and BSF have rescued 19,597 people, and over 5,000 have been provided shelter in relief camps.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited Gatti Rajo village in Firozpur by boat on Tuesday, interacting with affected residents. He assured that compensation for all losses would be provided and new, effective plans would be made to tackle such disasters in the future.

He stated, “In this hour of crisis, the government and administration stand fully with you. Every effort is being made to evacuate people safely and provide assistance. The situation will normalize soon. Stay strong and keep courage.”

The state government has also urged the central government to increase compensation for losses caused by natural disasters to ensure adequate support for affected families.

The Punjab government’s Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR) has released a Flood Media Bulletin, detailing the flood situation from August 1 to September 2, 2025, including affected districts, villages, populations, deaths, and rescue operations.
