On Rajiv Gandhi's Death Anniversary Rahul Remembers Father, PM Modi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Other Leaders Pay Tributes

NEW DELHI:Today marks the death anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. On May 21, 1991, he was assassinated in a suicide attack in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the former PM on his death anniversary.

PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X, "On his death anniversary today, I offer my tributes to our former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi."

Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge shared a video on X while paying tributes to Rajiv Gandhi. He wrote, "Rajiv Gandhi, a great son of India, ignited a ray of hope in millions of Indians. His visionary and courageous interventions played a significant role in preparing India for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. These include lowering the voting age to 18, strengthening Panchayati Raj, leading the telecommunications and IT revolution, implementing computerization programs, ensuring continuous peace agreements, initiating the universal vaccination program, and introducing a new education policy focused on inclusive education. Our heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister, Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi, on his martyrdom day."

 

 Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi on his 34th death anniversary. Rahul Gandhi wrote in his X post, "Papa, your memories guide me at every step. Fulfilling your unfinished dreams is my resolve – and I will accomplish them."

Congress leader Sachin Pilot paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi in Delhi on his 34th death anniversary. On the social media platform X, Sachin Pilot wrote, "On the 'martyrdom day' of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, I offer my heartfelt tributes. Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary leader who, with his leadership and modern thinking, provided a progressive direction to the country. His decisions elevated India to new heights. His contributions are an inspiration for us, and his memory will always live in our hearts."

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee also remembered Rajiv Gandhi. She wrote on X, "On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India, the late Rajiv Gandhi, I offer my heartfelt tributes. Rajiv Gandhi was a visionary who became a martyr for India."
