President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lags behind 'Turkey's Gandhi' in pre-election opinion poll

Ankara, Apr 3, (Fast Mail News):-- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is facing a fierce political challenge within the country. In the recent pre-election opinion poll, he has lagged behind Kamal Kilikdaroglu, who is called Gandhi of Turkey.

There is a lot of excitement about the presidential election in Turkey. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who served as Turkey's Prime Minister from 2003 to 2014 and then as President since 2014, is facing a tough challenge this time in the election from Kamal Kilikdaroglu, the joint candidate of six opposition parties. Kemal Kilikdaroglu is called 'Gandhi of Turkey'. Kamal fights for people's rights, social justice and democracy in Turkey. Turkish media also calls him Kamal Gandhi. He wears glasses like Mahatma Gandhi.

Recent pre-election opinion polls show Erdogan 10 percent less votes than his rival Kemal. His party is projected to get 45 percent of the vote and the Kamal opposition alliance 55 percent. The plight of the country due to poor economic policies is considered to be a major reason behind the decrease in Erdogan's popularity. Inflation is out of control in Turkey with an inflation rate of around 57 percent. Turkish currency lira is continuously getting weaker.
