CP Radhakrishnan to be the country's Vice President, receives 452 votes, Sudarshan Reddy gets 300 votes

(Fast Mail):-- The results of the Vice Presidential election have been announced. The NDA's ruling candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, will be the country's next Vice President.

Radhakrishnan received 452 first-preference votes, while the opposition's candidate, former Justice B Sudarshan Reddy, secured 300 votes.

 Voting for the Vice Presidential election took place from 10 AM to 5 PM today in the Parliament building.

Rajya Sabha Secretary General and Returning Officer PC Modi said, "The NDA candidate and Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, received 452 first-preference votes. He has been elected as the Vice President of India. The opposition's candidate for the Vice Presidential post, B. Sudarshan Reddy, received 300 first-preference votes."

 

 Returning Officer PC Modi informed that a total of 767 votes were cast in the Vice Presidential election, out of which 752 were valid and 15 were invalid.

Voting for the Vice Presidential election began at 10 AM on Tuesday and ended at 5 PM. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, Akhilesh Yadav, along with 766 MPs cast their votes. One MP voted via postal ballot. Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha participate in this election, and no whip is issued in it.

For the election of the 17th Vice President of the country, the electoral college consists of 233 elected members of Rajya Sabha (currently five seats are vacant) and 12 nominated members, as well as 543 elected members of Lok Sabha (currently one seat is vacant). The electoral college has a total of 788 members (currently 781). Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had decided to stay away from the election.
