Jamshedpur : Religious flag desecration, Section-144 applied

Jamshedpur, Apr 10, (Fast Mail News):-- In Jharkhand's Shastri Nagar, prohibitory orders were imposed in the area on Sunday evening following stone-pelting and arson by two groups following alleged desecration of a religious flag. The officers provided this information. He told that the violent mob set ablaze two shops and an auto-rickshaw.

 

Officials said that the police fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Officials said that adequate police force has been deployed in Shastri Nagar under Kadma police station area to maintain law and order.

 

Sub-Divisional Officer (Dhalbhum) Piyush Sinha said, "Prohibitory orders have been imposed under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure."

 

Vijaya Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum district, said that some anti-social elements were trying to disturb peace and requested cooperation of common citizens to foil their designs.

 

Police said tension prevailed in the area since Saturday night when members of a local organization found a piece of flesh pasted on the Ram Navami flag.

 

Earlier during the Ram Navami procession in Jamshedpur, there was stone pelting after a clash between two groups. Later in Haldipokhar, some people called for a bandh to suspend the jurisdictional officer of Potka and take action against those responsible for the stone pelting, in which five people were injured.
