IPL: Three unsold foreign players who can replace injured Kyle Jamieson in CSK
New Delhi, Feb 22, (Fast Mail News):-- The latest edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is still a month away, but four-time champions Chennai Super Kings have already been dealt a blow. Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson is doubtful to play in IPL 2023 battling a back injury.
CSK has roped in Jamieson in the squad for a whopping amount of Rs 1 crore especially to strengthen their bowling attack.
With Jamieson ruled out, CKS are now left with only two overseas pace bowling options in South Africa's Dwayne Pretorius and Sri Lanka's Mathesha Pathirana.
With Kiwi pacer Jamieson in doubt and India's regular pacer Deepak Chahar returning from injury, CSK are already worried about the lack of bowling options in their dugout and their chances of securing a place in the playoffs. may get shocked.
In the absence of Jamieson, CSK can consider three other options, with the first name being Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye. Tye has become a key bowler for many franchise teams with his slower ball variations and ability to bowl yorkers in the death overs. Tye has taken 301 wickets in 214 matches at an economy rate of 8.18.
He has an excellent record in IPL as well, taking 42 wickets in 30 IPL matches at an economy rate of 8.59. Tye has been in fine form for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL 2022-23 season. He has taken 26 wickets in 16 BBL matches.
Another player that CSK can look at is uncapped South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee. An exciting talent in the shortest format, the 22-year-old Coetzee recently picked up 17 wickets in 9 matches at an economy rate of 8.07 in the South Africa T20 League. His recent performances saw him called up to the national team for the first time for South Africa's upcoming series against the West Indies.
Apart from these two, there is another player who can replace Jamieson, that is Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith. Meredith has taken 8 wickets in 8 matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 at an economy rate of 8.43. Even if Meredith goes unsold in the mini-auction for the upcoming season, he could find a place in the CSK dugout as Jamieson's replacement.
Now it will be interesting to see which of these three bowlers CSK ropes in to boost their bowling options.
