Pat Cummins will not play in the third Test against India, Smith will be the captain

New Delhi, Feb 24, (Fast Mail News):-- Pat Cummins will miss the third Test against India after returning to Australia to look after his ailing mother. Steve Smith will lead the team for the Indore Test.

In a statement, Cummins said, "I have decided not to return to India at this time because my mother is ill. I feel that I am best here with my family. I appreciate the overwhelming support I have received from Cricket Australia and my teammates." I do. Thank you all.

The Australian team is trailing 0-2 in the four-match series. Cummins' ouster comes as a big blow for the Australian team as other senior players like David Warner and Josh Hazlewood have already been ruled out of the Test series due to injuries.

Earlier in December 2022, Smith was the stand-in captain when Cummins was ruled out due to injury against the West Indies. , Cricket Australia has not named any replacement for Cummins for this Test. In place of Cummins, Mitchell Starc (who is also recovering from injury) or Scott Boland (who appeared in the first Test) have been included in the team.
